Our mind creates our body. The body, the canon of song that flies with emotional stasis, and dies with perception malaise.

Far from self-observed construction this music connects with the spirit.

Dr. Julian Thayer embarks upon a journey that engages the listener.
This telescopic view of musical depth places us in the midst of a sound environment that many could imagine as Highway One of the Milky Way, only these stars are confined to light in the form of sound. The succinct sonic clarity of the recording places the listener amid objective and fertile musical movements.

Though the titles may suggest a conventional compact disc format, one could start anywhere in the recording and find a familiar story being told. The listener can embrace beginnings and endings, but what we hear in the whole is incremental events that paint with several brush and pallet strokes, a path charged with colorful peaks and hypnotic textures.

The homogeny of the ensemble is achieved with mercurial communication and intuitive collective improvisation. The chemistry yields iconoclastic treatments of modern sound and ancient feelings. Their velvet timbre and balance speaks like a Cy Twombly painting in a climate of optimism. Bereft of tepid references to Jazz, Pop, or Renaissance it keeps us in anticipation of more and more identity with the muse traveler.

KSJAZZ is proud to announce that 2007 Emma Nomited Nordic Trinity featuring tenor saxophonist Juhani Aaltonen, guitarist Mikko Iivanainen, and drummer Klaus Suonsaari has released their second CD entitled "Eternal Echoes". The CD has been recorded at the Rainbow Studio in Oslo, Norway by Jan Erik Kongshaug. Nordic Trinity will be touring Finland in early February to celebrate their new release.

Nordic Trinity featuring Juhani Aaltonen on tenor saxophone, Mikko Iivanainen on guitar, and Klaus Suonsaari on drums and percussion is an interactive and freewheeling group of three generations of musicians who explore inventive melodic themes and rhythms found not only in the traditions of contemporary music and improvisation but also in the complexity of modern composition. The bands philosophy is based on paradoxes and extremes being a necessity prerequisite in order to achieve balance. The variety of their work discovers contrasts in the weight of sound. Nordic Trinity digs into a place where people live not only out of necessity, but because they want to be part of a future that invites surprise and welcomes spontaneity.

REVIEWS

"Zakú is invigorating and, like the music of Ornette Coleman or Cecil Taylor, rewarding because of its exotic beauty."
--- Joseph Taylor, SoundStage.com

"Berger writes truly memorable tunes that give Wilson and the other musicians in the quartet, pianist David Budway and drummer Jeff "Tain" Watts, plenty to sink their teeth into. Berger himself is a tremendously rhythmic, expressive player, but it’s as a writer and arranger that he really makes his mark here."
